Spoiler art
Night of the Living Dead (1968), director: George A. Romero
MAY I PLAY YOU A SOUND?
I discovered Lil Yachty’s “Poland” this week through a review of Lil Yachty’s “Poland.” Well, less a review than an exegesis, Chris Richards’ “What if Lil Yachty’s ‘Poland’ contains the meaning of life?”
Spoiler alert, if you can spoil an article about a song (and I think you kind of can)—
Ok, quick tangent. I accidentally typed “spoiler art” instead of “spoiler alert” at first. And I don’t know what spoiler art would look like, but I’m fuckin’ with it. Anyway—
the last line of Richards’ review is this:
“Poland” isn’t short, it’s fleeting, and you might even find the meaning of life in the difference between the two.
And that line fucks me up as much as the minute-and-a-half song. It’s an icy, empty gurgle howl in the vein of Lil Wayne’s “I Feel Like Dying,” the soundtrack to my lonely-highest moments in 2009. Probably not a great place for me to live, but an entrancing visit as we head into seasonal depression season.

This is a real offer.
Philly horror clown Sarah Knittel, one of my dearest friends, released a video adapting a slice of her sick, horny solo show, Nightmare Fuel. It’s good, you should watch it!
